It is the first week of spring. A time when the birds sing all morning and people spend every moment possible in the sun. Starting my business this past year has been one of my favorite beginnings in life.  I’ve never been afraid of hard work, but I think I’ve been surprised by the amount of fun I’ve had as well!  As a result of starting this business, I have had the opportunity to meet some AMAZING people who also started their businesses in the past year. In celebration of this new season, I want to highlight some of the work of new business owners in the upstate.

 

1. Abby Puckett of Simply Abby is a multitalented lady. She is a full-time student majoring in psychology. In addition to her passion for helping people, she is passionate about make-up and clothing design. She created this beautiful emerald green tablecloth, gold table runner and matching napkin rings.  Abby also did the make up and hair for Holly and Daijah in the images below. 2. This vendor has been making cakes for a couple of years and makes some incredible cakes. Give her a picture or a description, and she will give you what you imagined. Her name is Gerry Ann Bates of Gerry Cakes. She created this beautiful gold cake and gender reveal cake. This vendor is also my beautiful and talented sister. 3. Andrea Culpepper is the owner of Culpepper Designs. She has been in business for a few years, but just recently opened up her storefront shop in Taylors, SC.   Andrea and her daughter Angie run a florist and wedding event planning business. They are incredibly creative and professional.  Their work is whimsical and classy, and they have quickly become the popular choice of brides in the upstate. 4. My very favorite new business owner is Juliana Blackmon. She is a fantastic designer and seamstress. She made the three dresses that Daijah is modeling below. Her work is high quality and made from beautiful fabrics. I spent three hours with her last month designing my wedding dress. I had this picture in my head and she was able to perfectly put it on paper. She is opening up her very own shop in Greer, SC later this spring. She makes exquisite wedding gowns and makes dresses for all occasions. She can be reached at julianablackmon@aol.com

5. Last but not least, Jessica Wiseman of J Louise Design is such an amazing talented woman.  She started her business in lettering this past year and has big dreams and goals for her business. The first time I saw her work, I was blown away! She is just SO talented, and her calligraphy work is the best I’ve seen. She does decorative prints, items for weddings, and invitations.
