OH HI!!! WELCOME TO THE STP BLOG! I'M SARA AND I AM WEDDING AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN UPSTATE SC. GRAB A SWEET TEA AND ENJOY YOUR VISIT !
Edwin & Megan were married at the lovely Lindsey Plantation in Taylors, SC on April 9, 2017. They were married on top of a hill with a beautiful cross behind them. This wedding is really special for SO many reasons, but first let me tell you why this wedding was special to me.
Megan was a student of mine back during her senior year of high school. That was way back before I was doing photography full-time. She was one of my favorite students and was always so sweet and tried her best. I just adore her! Anyways, I had my students write a memoir about a significant event that occurred in their lives. Megan wrote this lovely essay about how she fell in love with Edwin when she was 15. She wrote about how her heart would beat fast when he called and how it would jump every time he texted. She wrote about being incredibly smitten with him. Megan wrote about when he asked her to be his girlfriend, how he gave her a bouquet of flowers and said that he would love her until all the flowers died. In the center of the bouquet was a plastic flower, which would never die! So cute! Edwin told me yesterday that his mother who passed away when he was young had actually given the flower to him, which makes it that much more special that he was willing to part with something his mother had given him. Shows how serious Edwin has been about Megan since the beginning. She went on to write about how he was her first and would be her last boyfriend, and she was right. She married the only love of her life. I remember meeting him for the first time at her senior prom and thinking to myself that they would probably get married one day. Then to have the joy of photographing their wedding almost six years later…well, it was a huge honor for me.
The entire day went very smoothly, which happened largely due to the most amazing bridesmaids ever! They had made a pact together to solve any problem that arose throughout the day without telling Megan. That is what they did and I was really impressed with their servant hearts and kindness to everyone. It felt like every time I turned around they were asking me if I needed anything. One of the bridesmaids spent half an hour with me as we worked on getting a detail shot of the dress that Megan has requested. It required ladders and a lot of climbing for her. Other bridesmaids jumped in as well. I kept hearing them say to each other, make sure it is the way Megan wants it. These girls knew what their friend wanted and were dedicated to giving her the best. I absolutely loved spending the day with these women and Edwin and Megan’s family. Megan loves to serve people and is sensitive to the needs of others, so I should have known that the people closest to her would be similar.
Their ceremony was beautiful with the mountains in the background and a large cross. Edwin lost it as he saw his bride coming down the aisle. He was fist pumping the air, praising God, and shedding tears. It was just the reaction that every woman dreams of experiencing. Their pastor who knows and loves them well did an amazing job of really explaining the purpose of marriage and how marriage is a representation of Christ and his church. It felt like he was just having a conversation with friends. It was all so perfect.
After the ceremony, I had the opportunity to sneak them away for portraits. Edwin could not stop kissing his new wife and telling her just how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. I loved being able to witness their VERY newly married love. Their photos are incredibly sweet and a bit silly. Not unlike these two, who laugh together constantly.
Their reception was wonderful as well. They wowed with their incredible dance moves. They had taken lessons and choreographed a dance for their guest. Edwin spun his bride around like a professional, and the flower girl called them a prince and princess. The speeches were sweet and heartfelt, and I especially enjoyed Megan’s mother’s speech as she told everyone how hard it was going to be not to have her baby girl come down the stairs in the morning, but how she was so impressed with how Edwin loves her little girl and had gone above and beyond to make sure that this day was perfect for her, and he had. It was clear for everyone to see that these two are head over heels in love and have been for almost a decade.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Mack!
