OH HI!!! WELCOME TO THE STP BLOG! I'M SARA AND I AM WEDDING AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN UPSTATE SC. GRAB A SWEET TEA AND ENJOY YOUR VISIT !
Featured on the blog today are Matt + Katie. These two lovebirds met in 2012 and over a period of multiple months became really good friends. Eventually they both realized they had feelings for each other and now 5 years later they are planning their wedding. They are an adorable couple with personalities that perfectly compliment the other. Katie is so energetic, beautiful, and fun. Matt is the strong quiet type with a very generous spirit. I have liked them from the moment I met them. I absolutely loved shooting their engagement session and am counting down the days until their wedding (FYI…it is in 180 Days)!
Before I share their images with you, I must share the story of how I met this wonderfully sweet and kind couple. Last year I decided to shoot a charity event in Greenville on New Year’s Eve. It was a fabulous party put on by B&R Events. The DJ was amazing and everyone was having a great time. Close to midnight, Matt and Katie were on the dance floor and a gentleman who had a bit too much to drink grabbed Katie’s behind. She turned around like any normal woman would and gave the guy an earful. He didn’t respond well and Matt jumped to her rescue and grabbed the guy and forced him away from Katie. Although this guy was a good bit bigger than him, Matt would not allow anyone to disrespect Katie. The guy eventually apologized to Katie, and Matt and handled the whole situation with very manly class.
I was standing nearby when this happened and as a true photographer documenting life…I photographed the whole thing. I later went up to them and told them I wanted to show them the shots of Matt standing up for Katie. We laughed and chatted for a bit and then Katie leaned down and whispered to me that she thought she could marry him now. To be honest, the whole thing was very romantic. As women, we all hope the man we love would stand up for us but few ever get the chance to experience it as literally as Katie did. Also the way in which Matt showed his strength but also class was impressive.
Months later, Matt pops the question. I was thrilled when I received an email from Katie asking me to photograph their wedding! Much like the story of how they fell in love, it felt like it was meant to be.
I hope you enjoy scrolling through Matt and Katie’s engagement photos! They were taken at Birds Fly South Ale Project in Greenville SC. Feel free to share some love for the couple at the bottom in the comments section.
