OH HI!!! WELCOME TO THE STP BLOG! I'M SARA AND I AM WEDDING AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN UPSTATE SC. GRAB A SWEET TEA AND ENJOY YOUR VISIT !
When I woke up this morning, I knew today’s wedding was going to be epic. It is a challenge to put into words just how inspired I was when shooting Brett & Mia’s wedding.
This couple was naturally the life of the party and was thrilled to be together, but today… today was something enchanted…
Their wedding and reception was at The Grove at Upcountry Provision in downtown Travelers Rest, SC. It was such an incredible intimate space among the trees and string lights. There was a wood fire pizza oven, a stage with a live band, bonfire, and the most amazing cakes. The family decorated the venue and it was clearly a labor of love. The florals and decorations were whimsical and so romantic.
Mia is simultaneously the most chill and most punctual bride I have ever photographed. She put her hair up on her own in 30 seconds and then had time to hang out with her friends for like an hour. What?! (P.S. This never happens at weddings). We then had time to have a bridal session where she wore her grandmother’s fur and held a beautiful bouquet, which her mother made. Also, she tells me she can’t pose and isn’t photogenic …I come prepared to coach her, but she is effortlessly perfect. What stands out to me about her is just how gracious and kind she is to everyone around her. Even on a day that could be very stressful, this girl has nothing but acceptance and encouragement to give.
I loved seeing how excited Brett was to be marrying Mia. He could barely keep it together waiting for her to get down the aisle, and he had no intentions of letting her go once she was there. Brett’s love for his new wife was clearly communicated without a word; however, his vows were just what a girl always wants to hear (I always tear up at this part of the ceremony. It is my favorite part). Throughout the night, I enjoyed seeing him share kind words with his friends and family. I especially loved seeing him dance with his mother; the way they looked at each other melted my heart. There was the look of a proud and loved mama.
When they talk about finding the one person that connects you to the universe and helps you to be the best version of yourself, well, tonight is what I imagine it looks like. Brett and Mia were fist pumping in the air, deep belly laughing, sharing long kisses, running through crowds, dancing fools, and smiling the whole day. Brett and Mia could make even the most skeptical believe that love exist. As I photographed these two run and dance three times through their grand sparkler exit, I realized that no two people could be happier.
Being around them inspires me to love better. Looking forward to my big day in 75 days!
Brett and Mia decided not to have many portraits done at the wedding, but to have a honeymoon portrait session. Please check in next week to see their gorgeous session at Pretty Place Chapel!
