Every season is headshot season! Loved how Jennifer went bold for her headshot photos with bright colors, and designs, I mean…the tuxedo jacket?! LOVE IT! Her clothes showed off her personality but she still left with professional images that will do well for her on LinkedIn and other platforms.
Things to think about when choosing clothes for your headshots:
Based on my profession, what is considered professional? If you’re a hair stylist or an artist – you can wear just about anything you want as long as it makes you look good! The more personality shown the better. However, if you’re in corporate America they often prefer your solid or thin lines blacks, grays, navy blue, and whites in the form of a suit or dress. What would your boss wear to an important meeting is often how to gauge what to wear for headshots.
Is there an opportunity for dressing formally but then also having a casual option? Sometimes there are uses like via social media where you need good photos but you don’t have to be dressed in a suit or formal dress. Think about all the ways you could use your photos as you select your outfits.
Jewelry, nothing too loud or too big. The purpose of the photo is to see your face, so you don’t want to distract from your face with your jewelry. I mean, unless you have cool piercings!
Get professional hair and makeup done. Honestly, it makes SUCH a difference for professional photos to have it done.
