Wedding Planning + Inspiration | A Unique Family Crest For Your Wedding
Hi Friends!!! I hope this blog post finds you and your loved ones well. I’ve started a new series! It is on wedding planning and inspiration. Millions of us are quarantined at home or not working as much as usual, which gives newly engaged couples the time they need to plan their wedding! #findingthepositive To help in that process, I’ll be sharing wedding photography tips, wedding traditions, and ways to break them, as well as sharing unique ways to show your personality on your wedding day. I’m SUPER excited!

Today’s guest on the blog is
Jamie Hansen; she is an insanely talented watercolorist artist! For this post, I’m highlighting her semi-custom family crests, which are a perfect way to put your stamp on your wedding. Some examples of things to put your crest on are invites, napkins, thank you notes, t-shirts, gifts to your new spouse, handkerchiefs, favors, all of that on top, and you can use it in your home as an art piece and letterhead throughout your life. You’re creating a new family; a crest is a fantastic way to show it! Also, they are really pretty!

The New Family Crest
Jamie just created OUR family crest! I wasn’t sure if Natraj would care about that, but we spent HOURS talking about who we were as individuals and as a couple. We had lots of ideas but had to come to a decision that represented both of us. I just picked it up from the framers this weekend, and I’m OBSESSED!!!! Here is it below. P.S. My married last name is Chandrasekharan. I think what I love best about it is all the gold, and I will forever remember the long conversations we had to create it. Jamie created something we never could but represents us.

What Does The Process Look Like?
Create a personalized monogram crest for your wedding stationery or a unique wedding gift. Choose your supporters and your monogram style. Preview your design in real time on my website. Place your order, and I’ll create your custom crest from my hand-drawn watercolor art in about a week. You’ll receive a high-res image of your full crest and also one of just your monogram. Commission custom products using your files or receive a complimentary print with my larger packages.
How long does the process take?
With my new template-based crests, a semi-custom crest is available to design in real time and can be ready for print in a week. My semi-custom crests are a wonderful accent for brides looking for a personalized and unique wedding logo. I add new designs and new customization options regularly and can occasionally take requests.
How did you get started doing the bespoke family crests?
I created my first piece for a local client in Burlington, NC 2009, who sought me out because of my calligraphy and drafting skills. After that first piece, I posted the artwork I made on
Etsy and sold custom pieces fairly regularly on Etsy by 2014. I re-branded to “Flourish Family Crests” in 2017 and emphasized building my
website in 2018 to add tools to document and serve my customers’ unique wishes.
How long have you been an artist?
I have never NOT been an artist. Like most children, I drew pictures before I could write. My mom gave me paints in my Easter basket and art supplies under our Christmas tree. I’ve been taking community art classes since I was a child. I sold works starting in high school and studied art in college before working as a corporate graphic artist.
Completely custom pieces are available for specific projects based on my availability and workload. Generally, those fully custom pieces take two to three months when available.
Crests are a unique way to add a regal feel to your wedding stationery or create a unique and personalized gift.
